Become a Volunteer!
Week after week, our volunteers empower thousands of young people to learn new skills, make new friends and stand on their own two feet.
Our volunteers are our everyday heroes and they’re the backbone of our organisation – shaping young people’s lives for the better, while challenging and finding out a whole lot about themselves in the process, too.
Today, there are hundreds of children and young people on the waiting list to join Scout Groups across NSW. With the increasing need for positive personal, physical, social and mental resilience, especially after the lingering impacts of COVID-19, Scouting is more relevant and more needed than ever, but it’s not always easy to keep up with the demand. That’s where you come in!

Who can volunteer with Scouts?
You don’t need to have been a Scout when you were younger. You don’t even need to know how to put up a tent. Regardless of who you are, or what you do in life, Scouting is for you. Our door is open to people of all ages, genders, abilities and backgrounds.
We’re talking about energetic and organised big kids at heart who have lots of ideas and are keen to work with young people and adults to build a program of learning and activities. We’re talking about skill sharers and tidy uppers. We’re talking about number-crunchers, admin angels and first-aiders. We’re talking about young adults who want to boost their CV, experienced adults who want to give back to the community, and parents who volunteer so they can spend more time together as a family.
What options are available?

What can volunteers expect?
Whatever your skillset, lend a hand for as little or as much time as you can spare, and we promise you’ll get more out than you put in. Whether you’re a uniformed Leader running an activity in the local Scout hall, supporting our youth through a modern program of active learning or organising an event, or an Adult Helper assisting with DIY jobs or buttering 120 slices of bread to feed a group of very hungry 11-year-olds – no two Scout meetings are the same. The difference you make to the lives of young people, though, is always great.
We provide the training. You show up, get stuck in, and make friends and memories for life.
